Sovrano Limoncello, made in Kerikeri, is based upon the family recipes of an Italian couple who now make their home on the Bay of Islands. The Institute's 2012 description of Sovrano Limoncello reads "Milky pale yellow color. Dimensional aromas of whole lemons and honey with a satiny fruity sweet medium-full body and a tangy, penetrating lemon zest, Demerara sugar, peppery spice and mineral accented finish. A sensationally vibrant limoncello." The product was awarded 95 points out of 100 (Exceptional).
