The 1970s was a decade to remember, man landed on the moon… again, the skateboard and floppy disc were invented, Pink Floyd released the hit album ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ and pet rocks and bell-bottoms were all the rage. But in little old, red-blooded NZ, something happened that made a much bigger impact than all of these as Lion Beer roared for the first time!Born in ’72, Lion Red – as it is now known – has a long history in the hands of Kiwi blokes. The name, logo and can design have changed throughout the years, but the beer inside remains the same… well, not the exact same beer, but the recipe hasn’t changed!To celebrate 40 years of red cans, and Lion Red’s history in New Zealand, Lion is bringing back a limited edition, 70s inspired Lion Red can. It features the 70s Lion logo and its original name of Lion Beer. The 70s also gave us Star Wars, Jaws, Grease, the UK’s first (and ‘last’) female Prime Minister, email, and commercially available microwave ovens, not to mention a return to big moustaches!
