For Jules it?s a grape where you can use different techniques and methods each year, evolving the techniques and trying something a little different. The pleasure is in the not knowing what each vintage is going to bring.
Winemakers notes
Made in a fresh, vibrant style this Pinot Gris has complexity and texture from the partial wild and malolactic fermentations. Pale straw in colour. The nose is a medley of aromas; honeysuckle, pear, white peaches & fresh straw mix together. While the palate shows hints of spice, juicy pear and nougat.
The fruit for this wine was grown in the Awatere and Wairau sub regions of Marlborough and harvested by both hand and machine. The fruit was whipped into the winery for fast processing to ensure optimum fruit flavours were retained. The machine harvested portion was fermented with natural yeast strains to enhance the natural fruit flavours, while the hand harvested portion was whole bunch pressed and underwent a full malolactic fermentation.
