Matuka is a single vineyard wine made from hand-harvested ripe Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes (60:40) grown on our sun-drenched home vineyard in West Auckland. The wine is made by the traditional methods employed in Bordeaux producing a Medoc style classic. This wine is unfiltered and aged in new French Oak barriques for 2 years, then bottle aged. big, rich, full-bodied wine, full of flavour, powerful and intensely concentrated but showing elegance. A well-balanced red wine of character. The tannins are soft, ripe and supple which means it can be enjoyed now onwards or will benefit from cellaring. This is serious wine of uncompromising quality and is the ST JEROME flagship wine.
